Photoshop Basics Online with Michael Pliskin

Series Dates

Mondays & Wednesdays 5 PM – 6:30 PM (West Coast) | February 28th – April 6th

This class is 90 minutes, two days a week for 12 lessons. All lessons will be recorded for future playback.

Below is a general outline of what we hope to cover in the twelve online sessions of our Photoshop Basics course.  We may not get to all of it or we may be able to do even more than what is listed. We will use WeTransfer to send you photos prior to the class, so that we will be working on the same photos together as a group.

Please make sure you have the current version of Adobe Photoshop installed on your computer/laptop before the class starts.

Session 1 & 2

In the first classes we will take a tour of the program layout to see where all the tools are and how the various windows and panels are used.  Then we will explore how to find our photos using Adobe Bridge.  Be sure to download and install Bridge when you install Photoshop.  They work together.

Session 3 & 4

Adjustments and tools.  We will learn how to make basic adjustments to our photos for exposure, contrast, color saturation.

Session 5 & 6

Cropping, Rotating, Resizing our photos.  We will also learn about quick ways to color-correct our photos and do basic retouching using the healing brushes and the Clone stamp tools.

Topics covered- Techniques for exposure, sharpening, noise reduction, local adjustments and touch-ups, dehazing the sky, black & white conversion, and more!

Session 7 & 8

We will explore the various selection tools for removing or isolating parts of our photos and moving them or removing them.  We will also explore the powerful Camera Raw filter for editing raw photos.

Session 9 & 10

Layers are an important part of using Photoshop effectively.  We will play with combining and blending several photos together using layers, as well as using adjustment layers for non-destructive editing.

Session 11 & 12

In our final classes we will learn how to use the Type Tool for adding text or lettering to our photos for creating greeting cards, posters, and watermarks, as well as adding Layer effects to create fun looks to our creations.
