Photoshop Basics

Photoshop is Adobe’s photo editing, image creation and graphic design software. The software provides many image editing features for raster (pixel-based) images as well as vector graphics. It uses a layer-based editing system that enables image creation and altering with multiple overlays that support transparency.

We will use WeTransfer to send you photos prior to the class, so that we will be working on the same photos together as a group. Please make sure you have the current version of Adobe Photoshop installed on your computer/laptop before the class starts.

Part 1

Thursdays, June 9 – July 14, 6PM PT, ONLINE, $199

In this 6-week class you will learn to master the basics and build a foundation for your Photoshop knowledge.

Michael Pliskin will walk you through a multitude of topics including:

• an overview of the layout and program
• how to effectively use Bridge
• utilizing the tool bar and panel organization
• how exposure can impact the image
• the different types of editing that can be done with photoshop
• how to use the amazing selection tools for editing parts of your images
• introduction to layers for selective adjustments and editing
• using basic adjustment and healing tools and much much more!

Part 2

Thursdays, September 15 – October 27, (October 6 No Class)  6PM PT, ONLINE, $199

In this 6-week class you will expand on your knowledge of the basics and continue your work with Photoshop editing.

Michael Pliskin will walk you through a multitude of topics including:

• integral masking techniques
• how to combine images
• working with RAW images
• using Photoshop tools for retouching
• how to utilize the filters within the system
• the basics of layer styles and how to use them
• understanding and using type tools
• and picking the perfect print for you and your project

You will learn all of these topics and more! All aimed at creating and presenting the exact images you want!
